Running around, doing chores, tending to the needs of the boarding house guests, 12-year-old Vandana's life is more than fulfilled. After all, she has lots to thank the Lord for...beginning with Madam who has been gracious enough to take her in when mother, a guest in the boarding house, died suddenly, leaving her , a mere baby, with not a soul to call her own.
Life in Madam's house is restricted but Vandana does not complain. Instead she finds things to do that make her happy. However, fate works in mysterious ways and one fine day Madam shares with her some newa that engulfs Vandana's world into an unsettling darkness.
